These sessions teach citizens the principles and practice of using stream macroinvertebrates to evaluate water quality of a stream. Training is done by actual field collection and by evaluation of stream macroinvertebrate communities using the environmental game BIO-ASSESS©. BIO-ASSESS© simulates stream bioassessment and watershed evaluation with preserved specimens and id cards. Citizens go into the field to collect specimens and according to the taxa identified they are able to evaluate the quality of the stream from which they are sampling.
