Partnerships are essential for sustaining community based water monitoring activities. Partnerships among community members, government and non-government organizations, and funding organizations when well planned and managed, can build on the strengths and capability of each actor to produce greater and more sustainable impacts towards watershed stewardship. In essence, partnership avoids duplication of effort, capitalizes on each actor’s expertise, and pools resources to tackle the most challenging and complex social and environmental problems. Partnership is nonetheless demanding, requiring communication and commitment from all partners.
