Alabama Water Watch (AWW) is coordinated through Auburn University's Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures, and the International Center for Aquaculture and Aquatic Environments. AWW conducts training sessions; maintains a large collection of water quality data; interprets technical data gathered by monitors and provides online summary Charts and Maps. Since the AWW Program began in 1992, monitors have sampled 1,600 sites on 500 waterbodies and submitted over 32,000 chemistry and 6,000 bacteriological records.
